Director of Composition Duties

Provide faculty professional development and community building.

• Conduct annual Composition Studies workshops on topics such as providing feedback and teaching the mechanics of writing.
• Maintain Composition Studies library and develop Resource Guide for new and veteran instructors.

Realign English 110 curriculum.

• Creation and implementation of the English 110 Handbook: Curriculum Goals, Guidelines, and Expectations.
• Design and implementation of Directed Self-Placement procedure for incoming students (ongoing).
• Development and implementation of outcomes-based assessment for English 110 (ongoing).

Coordinate outreach to outside departments.

• Consult on development of Engineering 290: Writing for Engineers (Spring 2011).

Assist with Writing Across the Curriculum efforts.

• Chair, subcommittee of Faculty Senate WAC committee.

Design and implement Bridges outreach summer preparatory program.

Chair, Composition Committee.
