Turning frustration into action: Making sexual harassment unwelcome in fandom

Geekfeminist’s blogger, Annalee, expands on John Scalzi’s latest steps to try to make sexual harassment at fan conventions completely unacceptable (see “My new convention harassment policy” and co-sign it if you are so inclined).

In “How To Be An Ally, Speaker Edition,” Annalee provides a practical list of both public and one-on-one actions we fans can take to “help make geek culture a safer space.”

As Annalee points out, even those of us nowhere near as well-known as Scalzi can turn our frustrations and outrage into positive action. It won’t be easy but this seems to be one of those times where we have to choose between what it right and what is easy.
